Hacia

Hacia

Today’s Spanish word of the day is “hacia”.

It’s a preposition meaning “toward” or “towards”. It can also mean “about” or “around” in reference to times and places:

  • Llegaré hacia las ocho de la noche. – I will arrive around eight in the evening.

The word “hacia” comes from Latin facie ad, which meant “facing”.

Caminamos hacia la playa.
