Today’s Spanish word of the day is “encontrar”.

It’s a verb meaning “to find”, “to discover” or “to encounter”.

The reflexive form “encontrarse” is quite versatile and be used to refer to where something is located, how one feels, or meeting up with or bumping into someone. Here are a few examples:

  • El hotel se encuentra en el centro de la ciudad. – The hotel is located in the city center.
  • Me encuentro cansado hoy. – I feel tired today.
  • Nos encontramos por casualidad. – We ran into each other by chance.

Encontré mis llaves debajo del sofá.
