Ocurrir

Ocurrir

Today’s Spanish word of the day is “ocurrir”.

It’s a verb meaning “to happen” or “to occur”.

Like the English word “occur”, Spanish “ocurrir” comes from Latin occurrere, meaning “to run to meet” or “to run against”.

Nunca imaginé que eso podría ocurrir.

I never imagined that could happen.

Se me ocurrió algo interesante.

Something interesting occurred to me.

El accidente ocurrió anoche.

The accident occurred last night.
