Agua

Agua

Today’s Spanish word of the day is “agua”. It’s a feminine noun meaning “water”.

It could be a pretty useful word to know if you ever end up lost in a Mexican desert!

Although “agua” is a feminine noun, it’s usually used with the masculine article “el” rather than the feminine “la”.

This is because “agua” begins with a stressed “a”, so it’s easier to say “el agua” rather than “la agua”.

Por favor, dame un vaso de agua.

Please give me a glass of water.

¡El agua está muy fría!

The water is very cold!

El agua hierve a 100 grados Celsius.

Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius.
